Families with Children from China-Indiana (FCC-IN) is a non-profit, non-denominational, volunteer organization whose membership is dedicated to promoting both the well-being of children adopted from China, as well as those children who remain in orphanages in China. Anyone with an interest in Chinese adoption, whether adoptive families or family members, waiting families or community members who support our mission, are welcome to join. While we strive to serve all of Indiana, a majority of our activities currently focus on Central Indiana.
FCC-IN volunteers create cultural, educational and social programs designed to preserve our children's cultural heritage, provide insight into adoption issues and cultural mores, and enrich the lives of our member families. We support one another through the joys and challenges of adoption and child rearing. And, we advocate for respect and acceptance of our children and their Chinese heritage.
By providing our children with the benefit of growing up with friends who share their background and adoption experience, we hope to help them create lifelong friendships, which are forged among peers who understand the complexities of adoption, multi-racial families and creating personal identity.
By partnering with the local Chinese community, we endeavor to cultivate and strengthen our children's connection to their heritage and ethnic background by sharing celebrations and providing cultural awareness through interaction and education.
For over a decade, FCC-IN has produced the From China With Love calendar, which celebrates children adopted from China. Proceeds from the sale of this calendar have gone to support a variety of charitable initiatives related to the welfare of children residing in China's orphanages and to increasing awareness of the Chinese culture in the local community.
